Apr. 5, 2012- ADRIENNE ARMSTRONG ANSWERS YOUR...
nicegirlsfinishlast86 asks: "What was it like making "The Boo"?"
ADIE: Making the Boo was super fun.. It was done over a weekend & we didn't practice at all.. Billie joe wrote the songs & had each of us come into our home studio where we did our part.. It was quick! We've only played the songs once or twice all together.
Willajoe asks: "Would you like to perform with The Boo somewhere?"
ADIE: I think I would be terrified to perform... But I would never say never!
micdelp asks: "I am a fellow knitter and yarn slut, so I was just wondering if you are still into this and will you be authoring/co-authoring any more books?"
ADIE: No more books that I know of... I was honored that my friend Vickie asked me to help with Awareknits. She is one super cool person. I am a total yarn addict.. When we travel, I always try to seek out the local yarn store to find something new or unique. I am constantly knitting... usually working on at least 3 different projects at once.
Lixfer asks: "It was great to hear you making music with your family a' la The Boo! What are your thoughts about a music career for your boys? Do you have any secret "motherly" hopes for their futures (aside from health and happiness, naturally! ) Thanks so much!"
ADIE: I really just want Joey & Jakob to follow their passions... what ever that may be. I know they both absolutely love music & are really talented ( that's a motherly comment:) They have plenty of time to figure out what they want to do.. for now, I just want them to enjoy being kids- live in the moment & appreciate life where they are.
Bamdangerfield asks: "Have you ever gotten your dreads stuck in something, and/or something stuck in your dreads? "
ADIE: hmmm... I have had a bird poop on my head when I was at Stonehenge in England.. but no... not really :)
lindsey_lobotomy asks: "Adrienne, you are such a wonderful person and your involvement with environment via the NRDC really inspired me (and many other Green Day fans) to contribute and be more active in environmental issues. What I want know is what specifically sparked YOUR interest to work with the NRDC and/or other "green" organizations?"
ADIE: I have always been passionate about environmental issues- especially clean water, clean air and clean food. Once I had children, I wanted to do what I could to help protect their future. I like the NRDC because it's a powerful organization that makes real change happen. And they make it easy for me to be active & make a difference from home. I also like Surf Rider- since Billie Joe and my kids love to surf. Its important to me to do what I can to help keep our oceans & beaches clean...
rageandlove82 asks: "You and your family are one of the few famous families that seem to keep it together and keep everything in perspective. I really admire that and was wondering what you do to try to keep things "normal"?"
ADIE: Ugh... "normal".. I am not even sure what normal is. All I know, is I try to raise my kids with the same love & respect I learned from my family. We prioritize our family above all else. It hasn't been perfect- not by any means. But we have great support from solid friends and try to keep focused on whats important & real to us. Family. Love. Respect
maryann77 asks: "The Hunger Games...I just recently read the trilogy. Never would've been on my radar if you hadn't mentioned it. What did you think of the books/movie?"
ADIE: I LOVED the Hunger Games books. I read them all with my son Jakob. We like to read together & its awesome to go on adventures together. I thought the movie did a pretty good job considering how much material they had to cover. It's kind of like the Harry Potter series. I loved the books and loved movies in different ways. Both good- just different ;)
lukelondon asks: "What´s your favourite Song by Green Day/Foxboro Hot Tubs/The Network? Are there songs you don´t like?"
ADIE: I don't think I have a favorite song. I absolutely love all of Green Day's music. I know I am biased - but they are my favorite band to see play live. Still, after all these years! Nobody puts on a live show like Green Day... Nobody.
carolsz asks: "how many tattoos do you have?"
ADIE: I have 3 tattoos, on my ankle & both arms. All of them started off with one part & I added to them to make them what they are now. It has been a while since I have gotten a tattoo.. I think I am due!
greendaylover817 asks: "Who does the cooking in the house? Can Billie make a damn thing?"
ADIE: I am the cook in our house. Billie Joe can make a mean breakfast though ;)
blackguitargirl asks: "What's your favorite food?"
ADIE: I love lebanese food.. it reminds me home & my family.
dantheman asks: "Favorite celebrity you've ever met?"
ADIE: Hmmm.. Favorite Celebrity...probably Barack Obama , Pete Townsend from the Who. Daniel Radcliffe ( i mean, come on!- its harry potter! ) and Michelle Williams ( she's a fellow mom:)
gdkid2010 writes: "How do you feel about Billie continuing to write songs about Amanda? She has been apart of almost every Green Day album."
ADIE: I don't find it odd that billie joe writes about Amanda. She was a good friend, as well as an old girl friend. There will always be people who make an impact in our lives.. who we feel a connection of some kind with. Thats a beautiful part of friendships. Those experiences make us who we are. As an artist, he writes from the heart.. from experience. I would never want him to censor himself or his experience. That wouldn't be fair or real.
